The Changing Earth - June 7-11

Class capacity: 15 Students
Minimum registration: 4 Students

Our planet is constantly changing.  This week, we will explore some of the ways the Earth has evolved, both over the short term and the long term.  Beginning with the creation of the Earth and the time of the dinosaurs, we will move through the Ice Age, and then into modern era.  We will then investigate weather patterns and watch the earth change from erosion, volcanoes and earthquakes.

Ozobot Storytelling - June 14

Class capacity: 15 Students
Minimum registration: 4 Students

Half-day camp.
Create your own adventure using Ozobot actors and physical coding. Learn about inputs and outputs and how robots can use sensors to act autonomously. Students will create an original story and map for our adventurers to traverse, adding props and decorations to make it come to life!

Adventures in the Wizarding World - June 14-18

Class capacity: 15 Students
Minimum registration: 4 Students
Join us at Platform 9 and ¾, where we will eat Chocolate Frogs and discuss all the fun classes we are looking forward to!  The Sorting Hat will announce the opening to our camp and sort us into houses.  From Charms to Care for Magical Creatures, we’ll attend magical classes.  We’ll even take some time out for gobstones and quidditch.

Minecraft Challenge - June 21-25

Class capacity: 15 Students
Minimum registration: 4 Students
We will study some real world items we can use to apply to our Minecraft builds.  We’ll research and design blueprints before practicing the designs in Lego.  We’ll explore some of the different types of items available in Minecraft and the role they play in the real world.

Maker's Club: Cardboard Arcade - June 21-23

Class capacity: 15 Students
Minimum registration: 4 Students
Imagine, design, and create your very own cardboard arcade game. This three-day camp will have students draw up plans for a project, create prototypes, and improve each iteration. Students need to utilize critical thinking and problem solving skills to polish their arcade game to the fullest. Ages 9-12

Circuitry Crafts - June 28

Learn the basics about Current, Voltage, and Resistance as we create simple circuits to use in various crafts. Create a birthday card that lights up, a house with a working lamp, or a creature with glowing eyes!

Movie Magic - June 28-July 2

Class capacity: 15 Students
Minimum registration: 4 Students
Ever wonder what goes into movie making? We’ll explore some of the techniques behind the scenes at the movies. We’ll create a script, scout sites, and design props as part of the pre-production. Filming will involve stunt work. Post-production includes sound and editing. Parents will be invited at the end to see the finished product.

Minimum registration: 4 Students
Spend a week diving into the world of forensic science! We’ll look at different fields of science used in investigating crime. From biometrics and forensics, anthropology to entomology, psychology to chemistry, there are many sciences involved in solving crime. We’ll train to be top investigators, and then solve some crimes of our own

Racecars to Rockets - July 19-23

Class capacity: 15 Students
Minimum registration: 4 Students

Study the science of what makes things go! Students will design cars, then use what they’ve learned to design airplanes and helicopters. We’ll test different types of rockets propelled by different thrust sources and finish with a rocket launch picnic.

Young Astronauts - July 26-30

Class capacity: 15 Students
Minimum registration: 4 Students

Let’s head inside the rocket to explore life as an astronaut. Astronauts have to be physically fit and have at least a Master’s degree in a STEM field. The most current mission includes a stay on the International Space Station, where a variety of experiments are conducted. Missions may soon include trips to the moon and Mars.
This week will include an optional overnight experience viewing the Aquarids through our high-powered telescope.

Star Trek: Engineering an Adventure - July 27 & 28

Class capacity: 15 Students
Minimum registration: 4 Students
A two-day trek across the universe, first through our galaxy, and then beyond into worlds you can only imagine! Day one, we will learn concepts of physics and engineering to build our rockets and landers, while we visit the planets in our own solar system. On day two, the adventurers now have a mission: find an earthlike planet! As their ships fly further into space, they reach uncharted territory where they design and name their very own galaxy, star system, and life-sustaining planet. Students will craft a rotating model of their planet out of cardboard automata.
This week will include an optional overnight experience viewing the Aquarids.

Marvel vs. DC: Super Powers All Around - August 2-6

Class capacity: 15 Students
Minimum registration: 4 Students

Superheros have amazing powers… but so do a lot of real-life animals! This week, students will compare super powers and real-life equivalents, from flight to super vision and healing powers. Finally, we will explore human’s greatest power: our brains! We will use them to invent super gadgets and test the limits of super-powered technology.
